About The City Of Aiea:

Aiea, located on Oahu's south shore, is a must-visit destination for shopping enthusiasts. Home to the largest indoor shopping center in Hawaii, Pearlridge, it offers a unique shopping experience with the island's only monorail system that transports shoppers between Uptown and Downtown Pearlridge. The scenic ride offers breathtaking views of Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial, making it a memorable experience for customers.

Aiea, is located in the central part of O'ahu, is a small area of land around 2 square miles in size. However, many locals use the term Aiea to describe a larger area that starts further west on the Pearl Harbor West Loch and runs east to the "real" Aiea and all the way up north into the Ko'olau Mountain Range. Getting here is easy as all three of Oahu's freeways converge in this area, with the H1 Freeway running right through the city.

Aiea has a rich history that dates back to the 19 century. It was originally a sugarcane plantation run by the Honolulu Plantation Company and later became a sugar refinery. In 1941, a commander at Pearl Harbor named Thomas C Latimore vanished while walking in the hills of north Aiea, just five months before the infamous attack on Pearl Harbor. The attack on Pearl Harbor by the Empire of Japan on December 7, 1941, is a significant event in American history. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's famous quote, a date which will live in infamy," accurately captures the gravity of the situation. We must always remember the sacrifices made by those who lost their lives on that day.

If you're planning a trip to Aiea, make sure to visit Pearl Harbor & USS Arizona Memorial, Battleship Missouri Memorial, USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park, and Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor. These attractions are considered "must see" places in Hawaii and are not to be missed.

Located just north of Pearl Harbor, Pearlridge Center is Hawaii's second largest mall. With plenty of shops and stores to explore, it's a great place to spend some time. The mall is so large that it has a monorail that runs between its two sections, Uptown and Downtown. Just south of Pearlridge Center is Sumida Farm, Hawaii's largest watercress farm.

Aloha Stadium in Aiea, Hawaii, may have lost the NFL's Pro Bowl to Orlando, but it still hosts the beloved Hawaii Bowl every Christmas Eve. The stadium is also home to the University of Hawaii at Manoa's Rainbow Warriors football team and transforms into a bustling Swap Meet a few days a week, offering a wide variety of affordable souvenirs, shirts, jewelry, and more.
